  Once you are up there and when the weather is nice, you are rewarded with great views. It was quite crowded up there with the selfie brigade in full arms.

  From the top of the chair lift, it is about 6.5km to the summit. The entire way is paved or covered in some way, it feels more like walking along George Street than an alpine track. People literally take prams up to the top. That should tell you enough about how tough a walk it is.

  Stunning views from the summit. We walked the Merritt's Nature Trail on the way up to the Eagle's Nest. After a brief break we continued to the summit. We were climbing in May, which meant that it wasn't too cold on the top. You'd still need a jacket though. The walk to the summit from the Eagle's Nest is fairly easy. Merritt's Nature Trail was not as strenuous as I expected, but I definitely worked up a sweat. On the way down we followed Merritt's Traverse. This was not a pretty as the track we took up, but still quite nice. It's more for vehicles than people though.

  If you are after a beautiful track with stunning scenery, do yourself a favour and walk the Dead Horse Gap Track, it's much nicer, way fewer people and truly beautiful.

  I must say I was not too impressed with the walk overall. Good views but it really is a footpath with a lot of people. Not much as a mountain experience there.
